With how hard everything is getting to be these days, people often ask each other about managing personal finances. We already know that there are a ton of ways to go about this. We also know that anybody that isn't careful may end up in a tighter situation than they already are. Even beyond that, we know that there are scams that promise a lot out there, and even a lot of the options that are not scams can be rather risky, but what not everybody has caught on to yet is the fact that working on some of these plans can be very beneficial to your financial situation.

The first things that you absolutely have to consider are long term goals that you may have. Most people live in the day to day expenses without even truly thinking about what will happen when they have kids who need to go to college, or needing a new car, or even their retirement. The thought seems to be that they will all work themselves out with time, but that isn't really true.

Next you must look at your priorities. What goals do you want to happen fast, and what goals do you have time to accomplish. The point behind this financial safety net is to have the money you need to do what is going to happen in the future.

If you have a young child who you want to be able to pay for to go to school so that they won't have to go through being in debt, then you should focus on their college funds. Not only should you have college funds set aside and building, but you also have funds for the hospital, and braces, and anything else that may happen that could cause you to dip into their college funds. If you don't end up needing these funds for them, then you will have some extra money that you can put into other funds, or enjoy then.

After you have all of that straightened out, you can begin your plans. During the planning process you are just setting an outline of what you plan to achieve and how you plan to get there. In reality, you will find that things often go wrong and set you back a little. For example, there is a good possibility that some of your funds will conflict with each other. When this happens, it doesn't mean that you should just give up on one of them. When this happens you need to take a step back and decide which one needs the most attention the fastest, and then decide on how much extra money that one will get from reducing the other, you may end up reducing a few of them to make it work

As you can see there are many reasons for managing your finances and it isn't any where near as difficult as everybody makes it out to be.

Making Money With a Website

Kołcz is an info-science heavy, having published numerous research articles in publications like The Journal of Supercomputing, Neurocomputing and Neural Networks. He appears to have a special affinity for spam crushing, something Twitter must struggle with a whole lot. As use of the service grows, so too will the importance of its search - especially given the very public nature of Twitter's data.

Bing powers search not just at Microsoft, but at Yahoo as well. Combined, that means that the search technology Kołcz has been the lead scientist behind has performed 12% of all searches in the United States. There is only one Principal Scientist at Bing, but it appears he's now gone to Twitter.

Update: There appears to be some question about just how unique Kołcz is as Principal Scientist at Bing. Microsoft is a giant pile of people with impressive titles, but no one else describes themselves as a Principal Scientist on Bing in their LinkedIn profiles at least. Jan Pedersen, however, does describe himself as the Chief Scientist of Core Search at Microsoft. I'll do some more investigation to try to determine how central Kołcz has been on Bing.

There is huge, untapped potential latent in Twitter search. The company's database struggles have prevented meaningful archive search, for example. That's a whole lot of history gone down the tubes.

Bing announced that it was including Twitter updates in its search results more than a year ago, in what was presumed to be one of Twitter's first big money-making deals.

"I've never made out with him," Lauren Leto told me last week, between puffs of a Parliament Light. The 24-year old brunette, rocking a little black dress and flat boots, was debunking my suspicions that she might be romancing her notoriously cute business partner, Patrick Moberg, the talented artist perhaps best known for making the website NewYorkGirlofMyDreams.com in 2008.

Leto and Moberg recently launched the well-funded start-up BNTER, a site that stores the best conversations between users and their friends. BNTER comes on the heels of Leto's big Internet hit, TextsFromLastNight.com, the website that earned her two book contracts, a TV deal, and, reportedly, lots of money. But back to girl talk: "It's the same with [Texts co-founder] Ben [Bator]," she explained. "I picked such attractive co-founders, people assume we must all be dating. But, no, no, no. We're co-employees! And the thing people don't understand is that when you're, like, writing checks with someone — when money is involved — you become so sexually unattractive to that person." She exhaled. "This is why I can never get married."

Leto was smoking outside an East Village apartment playing host to the Silicon Alley version of a singles mixer — a meet-up for users of HowAboutWe.com, the dating website Brian Schechter co-founded on Valentine's Day in 2010. Users suggest date ideas or contact people whose ideas they like. "How about we go to an underground supper club?" was among the site's most popular date ideas during its first year, so Andy and Ashley — a couple who met on How About We — decided to throw the soiree, and Apt. No. 4, a traveling group of foodie friends, worked the kitchen, supplying lobster bisque and teriyaki char and drinks. Leto was a featured single on How About We this month: She answered every question with a quote from the Kelis song "Bossy"; she said she was at the party to support Schechter and not necessarily to find a man.

Nick Gray, the quick-witted Williamsburg party boy, would have it otherwise, though. "Lauren and I haven't dated yet, but I'm trying," he told us. When Leto offered no reply, Gray joked, "Awkward ..."

How About We's Schechter, meanwhile, admitted that online dating might always carry a stigma: "People say [the stigma's] decreasing, and soon there won't be any," he told us. "But when you go onto an online dating site, in some way you're confessing, 'I don't have what I want,' which is not necessarily an attractive thing. People tend to find someone attractive who has what they want. So I wonder if it's actually a psychological or cultural or almost biological thing: 'I want the one who doesn't need.'" He added: "I do think it will become increasingly normal. It's efficient. And a site that's about having fun and not confessing, necessarily, that you don't have something you want, is more likely to attract people. You're just saying, 'I want to try new restaurants!' Etcetera." Schechter has a girlfriend who he didn't meet over the Internet, but he said he still gets several e-mails a day with the subject line "How about we ...?"

Gray is one fan of the site who hasn't had much success on it yet: "I think my date ideas are intimidating to some people," he told us. "I used to think that I was a real catch, and now I've only had three people who wanted to go on my dates. Some people write, 'How about we get high and eat pizza?' and they get, like, one hundred people interested. And I write, 'Let's go to Rio for New Year's Eve!' Or, 'Let's go to Greece and open a falafel stand!' And people are like, 'Eh. Weirdo.'"

Leto claims she doesn't send many late-night texts of her own anymore because she gets up at six every morning, "so nervous" that something might have happened overnight. Telling us she still "lives poorly," she admitted she recently got an apartment of her own in Brooklyn. "I bought furniture, and I'm an adult," she added. But of dating in New York, Leto lamented: "Everyone wants something from you."

What she wanted from me, at least half-seriously, was less attention. At one point, she pretended to have stolen my tape recorder so that I couldn't report on her any further. And when I asked too many questions, she said: "This is going to seem like navel-gazing for myself. No navel-gazing allowed!" But she's just so good at all this, I informed her, as at least half the men at the party tracked her across the room. On cue, with a seemingly legitimate confusion, she asked, "Good at what?"

Making money with a blog can be easier than you think. People can make hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of dollars a year with a good blog. Here are some tips for maintaining one.

First, you have to get a web host. While this is fairly obvious, it's important to note that most of the free blogging sites won't be very conducive to advertising. It's best to buy your own domain name and build your website from there. However, this is very inexpensive, especially for a blog because it doesn't require much server space. Figure around 10 dollars a month. If you have a good blog, the profit will obviously be exponentially enormous.

Figure out how to code HTML. Most of the time, blogging software will cost you money, which will inevitably decrease your profit. HTML is easier than one would think. The best thing you can do is at least give it a shot. There are plenty of manuals on HTML that you can find for free online.

Figure out a good topic. Find something that fits three criteria. First, make sure it's something you're passionate about. This will making writing for it less tedious, and because it's less tedious, you will want to do it more, thus garnering more readers. Second, find something that people want to read. If you're passionate about dissecting small animals, it's going to be hard to build a large subscriber base. Next, and perhaps most importantly if money is your goal, find something that's conducive to advertising. You want something that companies will relate to and want to post their ads for on your blog. The more relevant your ads are, the more clicks you get, and thus, the more money you get.

Once you start posting, keep posting. Even if you have a base of subscribers, blogs can and will die of old age. Nobody wants to constantly visit a blog that takes forever to update. Try to keep your blog updated every day, so subscribers know they have something interesting to look forward to after work. Even better, make multiple posts a day. While it sounds like this could get monotonous, don't worry about it. If you keep the content coming, you'll keep the readers coming. More interesting material means more for people to read, and thus the larger chance that one reader will link his or her friend to your blog.

Connect with your readers. Leave a space open for readers to comment, and when they comment, comment back. Forums are so popular because you have the chance to talk to people and have conversations. Make your comment area seem like a forum. Actively participate in it as much as you write the articles. If readers can talk to you about your writing, they'll keep coming back to respond.

Making money with a blog is a very good idea for those who either want an extra income, or, if they really get a good blog, want one source of valuable income that they can get without leaving their computer chairs.

Making Money Your

The crowdsourced funding craze is picking up steam. Tonight we see the launch of 33needs, a site where socially-minded startups can raise initial seed funding from individual contributors on the Web. It is Kiva meets Kickstarter.

Social startups post their “needs” in terms of how much money they are looking to raise, what problems they are going to solve and how they are going to do it, along with a video to help spread the word virally. People can invest $10, $100, $1,000 or more, and in return instead of getting shares in the company, they get a promised percentage of revenues for a specified period of time like 5 percent of revenues for three years.

The startups seeking funds are for-profit ventures, as is 33needs. Some of the launch startups include Emergent Energy Group, which wants to bring renewable energy projects to different communities in the U.S., and HalfUnited, a new clothing company which feeds hungry children with part of its profits (see video below).

33needs itself takes a 5 percent cut of any money raised, and nothing if the goal is not met. Generally, thee social startups are trying to raise anywhere from $50,000 or more get their businesses off the ground. They all try to mix profits with creating social good, which increasingly also resonates as a marketing strategy to consumers who want to feel like they are making a difference in the world. Whether or not they actually are is a different matter, but the most enduring social startups will end up being those who create a measurable impact.

The company was founded by Josh Tetrick, a social entrepreneur and former Fulbright Scholar who worked in Africa and for President Clinton. He doesn’t see 33needs as a replacement for angel or seed capital, but rather as a launching pad for ideas that may otherwise never have made it beyond a dinner conversation. “It’s a launching pad that builds fans, breeds a loyal base of people who’ll buy your stuff and use your product,” he argues. “There is so much pent up demand to invest in this stuff—not donate, but invest.”

But using crowdfunding to help start companies, as opposed to microloans for projects (Kickstarter) or people (Kiva), sets a higher bar. These require more money than a simple project. One of the key learnings from Kickstarter, for instance, is that small projects can grow into full-blown startups, but they don’t have to (watch this interview with Kickstarter founder Perry Chen). With 33needs it will be all or nothing. So the startups better make their pitches really good.

It may seem to go against everything you learned in business school, but making your customers happy isn’t the same as delivering a good customer experience.

What?

That’s right. Customer satisfaction and customer experience are not equals. In fact, satisfaction, often measured as a degree of “happiness,” is just a small component of the customer experience.

If you’re a longtime reader, you know quite well that every customer experience begins with a person who has a need, problem, or desire they would pay money to solve. Whether or not they are able to solve their need is their ultimate measure of success. Whether or not you help them solve that need is yours.

Since the customer experience hinges on solving a customer’s need that’s where your focus should be. From product design to marketing, from operations to staffing decisions – everything you do should be about what solves your customers need better than anyone else.

Satisfying customers is a good thing. However, making them happy and solving their need is not the same thing.

I often like to illustrate this point by talking about a visit to the doctor. If my doctor’s main goal were to make me happy, to satisfy me, I’d leave the office with some good drugs and a scale that lies. Is that solving my need? No. I’d sure be happy though.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t bother worrying about customer satisfaction, or the degree of happiness your customers feel about your product, brand or company. It just means that your investment should only be in making them happy insofar as it solves their problem.

How can you know if you’re working on satisfaction or solving a need? Here are two questions you can ask as you make any decision or action:

Is there an end to what I’m about to do?

When we’re out to make people happy, we want them to be as happy as humanly possible. Ideally, we want to surprise and delight our customers. If we could, we would do anything! Solving a need is different. We can see a logical “enough” that is matched to a need. More is not always better.

Is this something my customers will pay me to do or provide?

Not necessarily as a discreet price, but customers are smart enough to know they pay for everything you do for them in some way. Your customers will pay you for if and how well you solve their need. If you are thinking they wouldn’t value what you’re about to do enough to pay you for it – you are working on satisfaction, not needs.

A quick look at Target can illustrate both questions. If Target invested in the same policies and staff attention that Nordstrom invests to satisfy customers, it would be a waste. Target customers are looking for (humor me Target, I know your customers would not use these words exactly) “upbeat fashion on a budget.” Target customers would not value – nor pay for – the same kind of happiness Nordstrom offers.

Some have argued – as Karen Freemen, Matthew Dixon, and Nicholas Toman did on HBR last summer – that you should altogether stop trying to delight your customers.

Delighting customers isn’t bad, but your investment should be metered by what solves their need, and not some immeasurable, unending scale of happiness. In fact, if your attempts to delight customers aren’t tied to their specific needs they might not even notice what you’re doing.

Think about it on a personal level. There is something inherently satisfying about having your needs perfectly, simply filled with out a lot of fuss. It’s one of those things that makes everybody happy.

Keywords and search engine rankings are the two most important aspects parts regarding to optimizing your articles for search engines (SEO). Search engines check your articles starting with checking your keywords first so you have to place them to the right position where they will be easily detected and recognized as a keyword, therefore the search engines will list your page when others search for that particular keyword.

Why are keywords so important?

A keyword is a term or word that you must place in your particular article more than a couple times, not only once in order to get it recognized being a keyword. When a search engine finds that you have a a word appearing multiple times in your article, it will make a decision that your page might be useful to users who are searching for that particular keyword.

Over using keywords

You have to know that there is a risk of over optimizing your pages for some keywords, this is called "keyword stuffing". This means if you stuff keywords in an article body randomly a search engine is going to detect that you try to trick them in order to get them place your page a high position in the search engines for that particular search term, and will instead of bringing up your content it will penalize your content giving you as low ranking as possible. Remember:, this can have an adverse effect on your other web sites too, not to mention that you can get your site easily banned from a particular search engine if you are caught on you do this too often. (Sometimes even a few times is enough).

What is Keyword Density?

Keyword density in content shows how many times you used the keyword in your page. . Take a 500 words article as an example:: to achieve to a a keyword density of 5%, then you you have to place the keyword in your content 25 times. You can find many products, e-books and articles making recommendations with regards to one keyword density over another but bear in mind you want to avoid keyword stuffing. Some article sites (I mean the big ones) usually limit this at 5% and will not let you submit an article with a higher keyword density. A good example is: Ezinearticles, which has the most powerful tool that detects everything you might use as a trick, from duplicate content to high keyword density. In the end of the day you will have to determine which density is more suitable for your niche keywords and target audience. Every article marketer has their own proven density that works for them and is proven to bring in profit. You have to find the balance between over optimizing the article and still ranking high in search engines at the same time. You are trying to achieve profit here, and profitability and whether or not you will profit of your content does depend on your ranking.

What is the ideal keyword density?

Whichever density you will decide to use , it is a good pattern to follow to place your keywords the way that there are more at the beginning of the article or in the intro text and also the end which will show a hour glass pattern. Getting your keyword density right is the key to start making money from your content, so it is imperative that you will keep a close eye on it. In the end of the day you are looking for profit from your pages, so the key to success is testing, testing, more testing and tweaking. One thing you must do is to keep an eye on your search engine rankings regularly and tracking the click thrus is what you have to do daily.
